Award-winning artist, Randall A. Walker was born in Somerville, New Jersey in 1966.
Raised in that same state, he earned a BA in Engineering from Lafayette College
(Easton,
PA) in 1988. He realized success in New York as a Project Manager for two of the
worlds largest Information Consulting firms. In 1993, Randall and his wife Maggie
took a sabbatical to travel across the United States, Europe and Japan. Upon returning
home, they moved to Maine where Randall became an Operations Manager for a leading footwear
manufacturer. He retired in 1998 to pursue his true passion - design.
Randall's background in technology
lends itself to his unique design process. His particular blend
of computer design and hand-crafted artistry is uncommon. Randall’s
award-winning collage is designed
via computer
and then meticulously constructed by hand using a layering process he created
himself. His artistic methods of working with cut-paper brings his bold two-dimensional
designs to life, giving them a vibrant three-dimensional feel.
This self-taught artist is best known for his varied, vibrant and
uplifting design series. He has
been commissioned to create original works for corporate and private collections
including a 9/11 commemorative piece for Janseen Pharmaceutica and a four-design
series for the Maine Department of Agriculture.
Randall has received numerous regional awards and has been published in
a variety of local and national publications. He is dedicated to his local community where
he has worked with non-profit organizations and made guest lecture
appearances demonstrating his unique cut-paper process. His work is exhibited in a
growing number of public and private collections across the United States,
Europe and Australia.
Although inspired by the outdoors, Randalls work transcends demographics and
geography. Because of the popularity and wide-appeal of his work,
licensing is the
next logical way for the artist to bring his designs to a larger audience. Randall
has
signed
agreements with an East coast sportswear company and an
West coast greeting card company. His work has also been featured on
archival-quality digital prints and Randall's own line
of stationery and other fine gifts.
After several years in Maine filled with honors
and awards, Randall now shares time between his studios in Standish, Maine and
Hardwick, New Jersey. Randall and his wife Maggie have
two young sons, Ryan and Kyle. When not designing, the
artist enjoys coaching youth sports, volunteering at the local elementary school
and hanging out with Maggie and the boys. Besides pursuing a career in
art, Randall is also proud to be a stay-at-home-dad.
